About the Service: 

 

These admissions are made via a request from a GP. GP contracts are up to a 7-day period (with an extension of 3 days by order of the Doctor i.e. maximum GP stay is 10 days). We must receive a referral letter from a GP before admission can take place.

We are not permitted under our contract with the DHB to take GP patients if they have been discharged from a public or private hospital within the last 7 days with the same diagnosis. If the patient is having ongoing problems after discharge from a public or private hospital, they should return to that hospital
